Both of these teams are in what I like to call mini offensive slumps. The Twins have scored 2.54 runs a game vs righties over their last 5 games while the Rays have scored 2.37 runs a game vs righties over their last 5. Now both of these struggling offenses get a shot at very decent pitchers in Blackburn(Twins) and Garza(Rays). Blackburn has allowed a total of 5 earned runs over his last 4 starts while Garza has allowed 2 or less runs in 4 of his last 6 starts. Both have pitched very well in their day games, Blackburn(.210 Baa) and Garza(.211 Baa), and should be able to stay under the total. We have two pretty good bullpens, to go along with an umpire who has a called 4 overs compared to 10 unders, and the under has hit in 11 of Minnesota's last 16 road games. They were knocked out of the playoff picture on Saturday by this very same Raptor team that they will have to face today in a home vs home series. The Knicks have lost 10 of 11 as a direct result of falling apart on the defensive side of the ball. They have given up 100+ points in 8 of their last 10 games, and will be facing a Toronto Raptors team that has averaged scoring 112 points a game over their last 5 games. The Knicks haven't won at the Canada Air Centre in over 5 years, and I don't see it happening today.

#543 Miami Hurricanes -3

The Hurricanes have won 4 straight in this series and look to make it 5 in a row after tonight's meeting. Hurricane Guard Jack McClinton must come up big in this game for a Miami team that has now won 2 straight and is still on the bubble as for as the NCAA selection committee is concerned. If the Hurricanes could pull out a couple of wins in their last two games of the season, it would certainly help their chances. Georgia Tech now stands at 1-13 in conference play and find themselves in a rare favorite position. Their record as a small single digit underdog in Conference play is 0-2 and could very well be 0-3 after tonight. Let's face it, this has not been Georgia Tech's year. It's obvious this team has given up on the season as evidenced by double digit blowouts in three of their last 4 games.

#851 Dartmouth Big Green +8 1/2

Dartmouth has won two of the last three vs Columbia on the road, and are a solid 4-1 over their last 5 conference games. They are currently ranked 3rd in the Ivy League with a 4-2 conference record, and are still in the race for the Ivy League Crown. The Big Green are led by Senior Forward Alex Barnett who leads the team with 19 points and 5 rebounds a game. Coach Terry Dunn has a deep roster and runs players in and out throughout the game to insure that he has fresh legs in towards the end. This theory has worked well, especially in conference play, where the Big Green have a 4-2 record.

Columbia has won three of its last four games, but are coming off of an embarrassing 35 point effort against Princeton on Saturday. The Lions will score more than 35 tonight, but should wear down in the 2nd half, allowing for an easy road cover by the Big Green.

Despite an overall losing record of 17-24 the Knicks actually have a winning record of 11-9 in their home games. Their also coming off a couple of home wins over Chicago and Phoenix, and now catch a Memphis team that has not only lost 7 in a row, but are an embarrassing 2-16 when traveling this season.

Al Harrington and Zach Randolph lead the Knicks with 21 points per game, while Randolph leads all Knicks with 13 rebounds per contest. New York has heated up on the offensive side of the ball, especially of late, and are averaging 106 points a game over their last 5 games.

O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay lead the Memphis Grizzlies with 19 points a game, while Marc Gasol leads all Grizzly rebounders with 7 per outing. I mentioned earlier that the Grizzlies had lost 7 straight, and the main reason for that, is their lack of offensive fire power. They are averaging 93 points a game on the season, but are averaging 85 points a game over their last 5. To add insult to injury, the Grizzlies lost at home to the Knicks back in November. The Knicks torched the Grizzly defense for 132 points in that game. Look for much the same in this match up tonight.

#712 Kent St. Golden Flashes Pk

Ok, let's get the obvious behind us. Kent St. has lost 3 straight games. Whew...now that I said it, let's take a look at those last 3 games. They were losses to Kansas(60-87), Texas A&M(71-77), and Illinois(63-69). They were in it till the final few minutes in both the Texas A&M and Illinois games, and were obviously overpowered against Kansas. Pretty good competition if you ask me.

Senior Guard Ali Fisher leads the way for the Golden Flashes. He is averaging 19 points and 3.3 assists per game. He was the MAC Player of the Year last season, and is on a pace to get it a second year in a row. The Golden Flashes have been getting excellent play from the guard position resulting in just 11 turnovers per game. As a team they are shooting 47% from the field, while holding opponents to 34% from the field in their home games.

St. Mary's comes in with a 5-1 record, but have yet to play a true road game this season. They played their first 3 games at home, before playing on a neutral court in the 76 Classic this past weekend. The Gaels are led by Sophomore Guard Patrick Mills who is averaging 20 points and 4.2 assists per game. These two schools met back in February, with Kent St. taking a road win over the Gaels by a 65-57 score. This one is just too easy to pass up, especially with Kent St. nearly even and at home.

#390 New York Jets -9

The Jets and Broncos have something in common. Do you know what it is? I do. They both lost to the lowly Oakland Raiders this year. Denver lost by a 10-30 score to Oakland just last week, while the Jets lost 13-16 to the same Oakland team back in the middle of October.

One thing has remained a constant in all of the Broncos games. They give up lots of points!!! They are ranked #28 in the league with 28 points allowed per game, and will be facing a Jets team that is ranked #2 in the league with 29 points scored a game. The Jets Brett Favre has been spreading the wealth in the receiving corps. He has 5 different receivers that are averaging over 20 receiving yards per game.

One of the reasons for the poor defensive play of the Broncos is the fact that they very rarely create turnovers, if fact they are last in the NFL with just under one takeaway per game. The one positive that the Broncos have going for them is Jay Cutler and the Broncos offense. The offense is ranked #2 in the league in total offensive yards, but have struggled in the red zone, which accounts for the #15 ranked offense in total points scored.

The wild card that makes the Jets the play, despite the high number, is the way their defense has played over the past few weeks. They did allow the Patriots to score 31 a couple of weeks ago, but other than that lone setback, have held 5 of its last 7 opponents to 17 or less points. Denver on the other hand has allowed 6 of its last 10 opponents to score over 30 points, while holding only one opponent under 20 points in this span. With the weapons that Favre has at his disposal in the receiving corps, and with Thomas Jones doing the damage with the running game, I see no way that they Broncos defense can keep the Jets from scoring, and scoring, and scoring.
